Bio-Rad 2100 MP

Bio-Rad 2100 MP laser scanning microscope

The BioRad Radiance 2100MP Laser Scanning System is attached to an Olympus fixed-stage upright microscope (BX51WI) and is designed to facilitate patch clamp recording. The illuminating sources are the Spectra-Physics MaiTai multi-photon IR laser and a 150 watt Xe arc lamp for widefield viewing. This system also includes the equipment necessary to do patch clamp recording in living preparations as well as the Becker and Hinkel lifetime (FLIM) system with a microchannel plate PMT detector. Although the equipment was initially designed to accommodate brain slices or cultured cells on small coverslips, the microscope stage is currently being modified to accomodate specimens on conventional microscope slides. This change will greatly expand the user base for the instrument which is currently restricted to the major user group specified in the grant proposal. This multi-photon laser scanning system is located within the Neuroscience Imaging Center, room E632c.
